The first sports event took place in Cologne's magnificent swimming pool. The ALFAC team welcomed over 200 children for a day dedicated to discovering the world of water. The programme included swimming lessons for the youngest, diving, water polo and team games.
The main objective of these days was to develop the children's water literacy by improving their water skills, while at the same time encouraging them to discover and participate in water sports!
What a splashing good time we had at the recent SPOHO SCHWIMMSPASS event! Over 200 happy kids splashed in the water on September 17th and 18th, 2023.
In the spirit of the EU project ALFAC (Aquatic Literacy For All Children), we invited children aged six to twelve to the German Sports University Cologne swimming center for incredible days of aquatic adventures.
The SPOHO SCHWIMMSPASS lasted about two hours, with a choice of two start times (9:15 AM or 11:30 AM). One day was open to the public, and the second day was dedicated to our project partner, "Heliosschule" from Cologne, Germany. On both days, kids of all swimming levels participated in small-group workshops in different pools - teaching, diving, and sports.
Every child received a participation certificate, and we're thrilled to see so many young swimmers enjoying the water.
