I KNOW how to estimate my performance in order to catch the ring before it touches the ground.
I FEEL being able to face the challenge to catch the ring before it touches the ground.
To catch the ring before it touches the ground.
A sinking obstacle (i.e. a colored ring) is needed and an edge of the pool for the push-off. The task works in a swimming pool in deep or shallow water.
The task is performed in (self-selected) pairs. The instruction should emphasize that the goal is to complete the task together.
At least ten minutes for the minimum of three try-outs each in a pair.
Basis Aquatic Skills: fully submerging, freely floating, low-resistance gliding, adjusted breathing.
Knowledge: how to minimize resistance in water.
Social Skills: cooperating with others in a pair.
Use picture attached for illustration.
Basic instruction: Pair up with a partner and decide who comes first. This partner has to find its position to push off. The other partner positions at a distance of about 3-5 meters holding the ring. From the moment the ring is released, the person can push off to catch the ring before it touches the ground. Work out together how to succeed. Swap the tasks after a few (successful) attempts.
Advanced instruction: Try to extend the distance between the push-off position and the position of releasing the ring.
Optional instruction: Face the challenge without using goggles (or closed eyes).
