I CAN combine different positions in the water
I FEEL the position of my arms and legs
be able to reproduce exactly the combined positions shown by his teacher or his classmate without touching the bottom with the feet.
In shallow or deep water depending on the level, with a demonstrator at the edge. An area of 4 m² per pupil is required.
The teacher demonstrates by miming different positions in the water that the pupils are to perform in sequence. The pupils stand in the pool, watch and memorise the sequence. When given the signal, they perform it.
The exercise lasts no more than 5 minutes, as it demands a high level of focus and concentration
To complete this exercise, pupils must be able to put their head under water, hold their breath for 5 seconds and float on their front and back. In deep water, they must be able to tread water.
The instructor divides the pupils into groups in the pool (shallow or deep water depending on their level). He demonstrates a first series of positions to be copied without touching the bottom with the feet.
Key teaching points to support student learning:
Take a deep breath at the start
Begin with two positions, then gradually increase
Give specific feedback on mistakes made, particularly in the positions of the distal joints.
Emphasise transition postures (curling up to move from one position to another).
