I KNOW recognize risks in aquatic environments
I CAN act safely to rescue someone
Correctly identify a risk scenario, demonstrate safe rescue techniques without entering the water, and reflect as a group on safe behaviors and responsible actions.
Location: Shallow pool
Space: Side area of the pool + middle of the pool (to simulate the victim)
Equipment: Floatation devices, ropes, pole, life jackets, cones
Groups of 3–4 students
Station-based movement (scenario analysis, rescue, reflection)
The teacher supervising from outside the water
Safety: no entry into the water; use of support equipment; area free of physical hazards
Duration: 15–20 minutes
Main part of the lesson
Vertical balance, face adaptations, and deep submersion.
Students are grouped in pairs or small teams.
One student simulates being in distress in the center of the pool.
Other students coordinate a rescue using equipment without entering the water.
Switch roles so everyone practices.
Students surface and submerge on the teacher’s signal, reacting quickly to grab or move objects as part of the exercise.
