I KNOW/CAN: I can assess and talk about possible risks/challenges during activities in, on and around the water.
Children can assess risks/challenges in on and around the water, think about consequences and discuss responses in terms of materials, skills and (inter)actions with others.
3 Pictures with risks/challenges, followed by a reflection column.
1 sheet per child.
Homework, to be completed independently and a discussion afterwards with family members (e.g., siblings, parents, grandparents).
30' in total: 10' per picture (5' individual work, 5' reflection with family).
I am familiar with water activities in certain conditions.
The teacher gives as homework a sheet with pictures of possible risks/challenges in water recreation with the following instruction: Look at the situations carefully and answer the following questions:
(1) Why might this situation be dangerous?
(2) Which material(s) / skill(s) / action(s) are needed for this situation to end safely?
(3) How can this risky situation be avoided?
The children first answer the questions themselves and record that in the first row. Afterwards, other family members can note their thoughts in the second row to discuss together.
