Deep waters
Miscellaneous material
Groups of 5 to 7 students.
Teacher out of the water.
3 runs of 5 minutes (15 min)
Be able to float and move independently
You are aquatic explorers who have been shipwrecked off a mysterious island guarded by a giant octopus called Tentaculix.
You can only reach the island if you cross the shallow waters infested with tentacles... but there's a problem: the boat has sunk and not everyone can move in the same way!
You'll have to work together to cross the shallow waters without touching the tentacles and get safely to the beach!
Each group is given the following scenario:
· 1 or 2 members of the group have ‘lost their legs’ (pool-buoy between the feet).
· The group has to carry one or two ‘valuable’ floating objects (e.g., a bottle and a sponge) without dropping them into the water.
But only one student can touch them directly. How can the group help the legless friend cross the unstable areas of the water?
·1 student is terrified of deeper water (delimited area).
· 1 student can't move.
The aim is for everyone to cross together, a route with obstacles (arches, buoys, floating islands), taking the valuable items with them!!!
Before starting, the group has 2 minutes of planning time out of the water.
During the game, they can't talk to the teacher - they have to make decisions independently.
Leaving the side edge —> Island: End edge
Group all together, one person without legs, one person who can't move and one with a valuable object, and one who is afraid of deep water.
Water full of debris and tentacles. If you touch them, they all go back to the beginning. They have to help each other get to the island
Variants:
Add limitations between the students in the second round.
Create challenges halfway through the course, for example: Fog (student can't see for 15 seconds);
