I KNOW identify the level of risk and adapt my behavior according to the environment
Identify the depth of the water.
Understand the risks associated with rough waters and strong currents.
Pool with a slope (transition from the shallow to the deep end)
A swimming lane
A kick platform representing a current
A non-floating object
Groups of 3 students per lane
One teacher per lane
Teacher at the edge of the pool
If there are not enough teachers, only the first lane next to the edge will be used
5 minutes per student.
Technical and Physical Prerequisites:
· Ability to swim;
· Breath-holding capacity, being able to stay underwater for a period of time;
· Visual analysis skills to estimate object depth.
Cognitive Prerequisites:
· Ability to understand and follow the teacher’s instructions;
· Decision-making skills to react appropriately to the danger signaled by waves and exit the pool;
· Ability to act safely and responsibly in the water.
Outside the pool, students must throw an object and judge its depth by observing its movement. Then, they must jump into the pool and retrieve the object.
If the teacher creates waves in the water, students must exit the pool as quickly as possible.
This exercise should be performed in all areas of the pool.
